Five time Grammy Award-nominee David Grisman and his band the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, will be headlining the 35th annual Adams Avenue Roots & Folk Festival, which will take place on Saturday, May 3, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Sunday, May 4, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, on Adams Avenue, located in the Normal Heights community of San Diego.
David Grisman has been hailed as a master mandolinist who has blended many genres of music, including bluegrass, jazz, swing and gypsy. Influenced by legendary bluegrass musician Bill Monroe,
Grisman has composed, recorded, produced and performed with a long list of illustrious musicians, including Stephane Grappelli, Earl Scruggs, Bela Fleck, Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Mark O’Connor, Dolly Parton, and Jerry Garcia.
A favorite headliner at major jazz, folk and bluegrass festivals world-wide, Grisman co-founded Acoustic Disc label with his manager in 1990. Since launching of Acoustic Disc, Grisman has produced more than 50 critically acclaimed albums, including five Grammy nominated recordings. Always pushing the musical envelope, Grisman continues to inspire generations of musicians.
The David Grisman Bluegrass Experience will perform at a special ticketed concert on Saturday, May 3, 2:00 pm, at the Normal Heights United Methodist Church, located at 4650 Mansfield, which is inside the festival venue.
